Who doesn’t remember the yesteryear actress Vijayta Pandit, who gained overnight recognition from her debut film ‘Love Story’. With the endless wraths she faced in life, Vijayta was one of the most loved actress of the 80s. With doll-like features, adorable facial expressions and a melancholy voice, the actress was liked by all. After Love Story, almost every hero wanted to work with her. A multitude of films came her way, shooting her career to the top. But deprived of all the luck, her destiny brought her some unexpected twists.
In a recent interaction with Lehren Retro, Vijayta Pandit recalled of the time when her husband, Aadesh Shrivastava took a promise from Bollywood’s King Khan before dying. “Shahrukh was a good friend of Aadesh Shrivastava. While Aadesh laid on his deathbed, he held SRK’s hand and pointed out towards our son, Avitesh. He couldn’t say anything but drew attention towards Avitesh meaning to lend support to his career after his death”, Vijayta said during the interview. However, she revealed that she and her sons could never contact SRK after Aadesh’s death. Not for once has the family been able to connect to the actor or his team.

By means of this exlcusive interview, she urges King Khan to recall his yet-to-be-fulfilled promise and seeks support for his son’s career. With the intention to give Avitesh’s career a push, the 57 year-old actress quotes, ‘Mai Shahrukh ko yaad dilana chahti hu. This is the time Shahrukh! We need you, come and help my son. He needs a little push”. Vijayta Pandit also praised him further, on his frequent visit when Aadesh was battling for life in his last stages.
In this once in a lifetime interview, the Love Story actress also revealed of her bond with brothers Jatin-Lalit, sister Sulakshna and her musical family background including uncle ‘Pandit Jasraj’. She discusses the excruciating pain of seeing her songs being dubbed by other singers. As she calls out the veteran filmmaker-actor Rajendra Kumar for ruining her career, Vijayta expressed her agony on his vengeful nature on learning about her brewing relationship with his son Kumar Gaurav. Rajendra Kumar’s 1981 film Love Story, not only brought Vijayta sheer fame, but also introduced her to a swarm of tragedies later on.
