This inclusion of an animal tied in a separate corner is funny for everyone and immediately grabbed the attention of Bigg Boss family. Unfortunately, the one who objected to the same is PETA. People for Ethical Treatment of Animals India(PETA) has showed objection to the producers of the Colors reality show upon using an animal in the show for their commercial motive of ‘inducing entertainment’. Reportedly, one of the contestants Advocate Gunratna brought in Max, a donkey who is now nicknamed as ‘Gadhraj’ in the show. PETA sent a legal notice to the makers and Salman Khan urging them to take the concept off their show.
PETA Urges Colors TV To Surrender The Donkey
In their notice, it was mentioned “This would not only prevent stress to the animals and upset to viewers but also set a powerful precedent. We also urge you to encourage Advocate Gunaratna Sadavarte, who has reportedly brought Max into the house, to surrender the donkey to PETA India to rehome in a sanctuary with other rescued donkeys. Such a move would surely win Advocate Sadavarte fans. The letter also read that there is nothing to laugh about, on a donkey by keeping them in the show.
“Bigg Boss is lighthearted entertainment, but the use of animals on a show set is no laughing matter. As prey animals, donkeys are naturally nervous. They, and other animals, would find the lights, sounds, and clamour that are standard on all show sets confusing and frightening. That a show set is no place for an animal is obvious to viewers who are saddened to see the donkey kept in a small, confined space standing in waste“, it read further.
Although, this is not the first time to include an animal in the Bigg Boss house. Earlier, audience has seen parrot, and a dog also featuring in the show as an additional member of the house. However, this time PETA was quick to take notice and demand for an action from the team. So far, Salman Khan, Viacom 18 or producers of the show have not released any statements and the answer is still awaited.
