The opening ceremony took place on July 26 at 1:30 pm ET, featuring dynamic performances that left audiences in awe. Lady Gaga kicked off the ceremony in grand style in Paris, spreading love in the city of affection.
Gaga made a stunning entry on stage through an artistic golden staircase on the riverbank, surrounded by dancers adorned with feathers. Known for her energetic yet captivating performances, the singer stunned the audience with her rendition of Renée “Zizi” Jeanmaire’s “Mon Truc en Plumes” (“My Thing with Feathers”). Dressed in a black leotard and opera gloves, she was surrounded by dancers opting for pink round feathers that formed a heart shape, her stage performance resonated perfectly with the romantic essence of song and as well as Paris, a city famously known for love and creating a mesmerizing start to the world’s biggest athletic championship.
Sharing honour to perform at grand stage, American singer-songwriter and actress shared on her social media by opening up on saying, “I feel so completely grateful to have been asked to open the Paris @Olympics 2024 this year. I am also humbled to be asked by the Olympics organizing committee to sing such a special French song—a song to honor the French people and their tremendous history of art, music, and theatre.”
Meanwhile, Canadian singer Céline Dion, popularly hailed as the ‘Queen of Power Ballads’, was the showstopper of the evening under the sparkling lights of the iconic Eiffel Tower. Céline, dressed in a full silver gown adorned with diamond tassels, delivered a triumphant performance that electrified the stage. At 56, her powerful singing and captivating presence left the audience, including main guests and commentators, in awe.

This performance marked Céline Dion’s return to the stage after four years, following her diagnosis with stiff-person syndrome, a rare neurological disease. Her epic return showcased her enduring and unmissable aura, surprising and delighting her fans. She was greeted with overwhelming love from fans as she arrived on the red carpet, waving to them from the car’s roof.
Both powerhouse singers lit up the Olympic Summer Games 2024 opening ceremony, which was for the first time astoundingly organized around France’s iconic tower rather than inside a stadium.
