Joker: Folie à Deux Falls FLAT On Screens, Fans Call It ‘Worst Movie Of Decade’

Joaquin Phoenix’s highly anticipated film ‘Joker: Folie à Deux’ hit the screens yesterday. The sequel to the 2019 hit release – ‘Joker’, featured renowned singer-songwriter Lady Gaga in the role of Dr. Harleen Quinzel. As Joaquin Phoenix returns as Joker, Lady Gaga has joined the Todd Philip film as Joker’s love interest Harley Quinn. DC fans who eagerly awaited the next chapter were in full spirits while they headed towards the theaters to watch Joker: Folie à Deux. However, the film has not come out as strong as the viewers expected it to be.

Joker: Folie à Deux fell flat on the screens, with Lady Gaga individually being praised for her over the top performance. Right from the fans and critics, everyone has called out the film ‘dull’ and ‘boring’.  Joker: Folie à Deux starts out as a twisted, exhilarating love story between Joker and Lee, which is then forced to make room for a dull courtroom drama that mostly discusses the events of the first film. The love story angle is far more interesting than Arthur’s trial, mostly because Lady Gaga proves to be an electric presence on screen.

The odd chemistry between Gaga and Phoenix is enough to fascinate, but their love story feels superficial. Gaga isn’t given much else to do than either sing breathlessly or belt out familiar songs, which has somewhat disappointed the fans to the core.

Netizens have swarmed the internet with negative reviews to air their thoughts on the same. A user came out discussing on X that Joker: folie a deux is a complete disappointment and a plagiarized version of the prequel which has made it unworthy of appreciation. Mocking out the movie, another user on X said, “They say don’t believe people’s reviews but go and see the movie for yourself so I went to see #Joker2 and honestly if I didn’t go I wouldn’t have realized that it wasn’t really a bad movie but the worst movie of the decade.

People liked Harley Quinn’s role in the movie but stood upset because the character struggled to justify its existence in the movie throughout.
