Joe Russo and James Cameron, renowned for their blockbuster films and record-breaking worldwide success, have expressed their admiration for the exceptional Indian filmmaker SS Rajamouli. Known for their inspiring work in the film industry, these Hollywood legends recently came together to praise Rajamouli’s visionary filmmaking in his biopic documentary titled ‘Modern Masters: SS Rajamouli’.
The buzz began with the release of the trailer for the Netflix documentary ‘Modern Masters: SS Rajamouli’. The trailer featured glowing remarks from James Cameron, Tollywood stars Ram Charan, Jr NTR, Prabhas, musician MM Keeravani and Rajamouli’s wife, Rama Rajamouli. To the surprise of many, Joe Russo, known for his work with his brother Anthony Russo on Marvel films, also appeared as the documentary recently on OTT giant. Russo praised Rajamouli’s craft, stating that it is on par with any major Hollywood film. His comments underscore SS Rajamouli’s significant impact on global cinema.
Russo, famous for Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame, spoke highly of the 2022 film RRR. He said, “I think people were blown away by RRR in Hollywood. I just think that the level of craft exhibited here is equal to any major film that comes out of Hollywood, any large-scale movie.”
James Cameron, known for visual spectacles like Titanic, Avatar and The Terminator also praised RRR and referred to Rajamouli as “A Global Cinema Icon.” Cameron highlighted Rajamouli’s unique style, noting that his success is particularly impressive given that he achieved it independently. Cameron described Rajamouli’s approach as “muscular,” not in terms of physicality but in the strength of his filmmaking vision.
The documentary ‘Modern Masters: SS Rajamouli’ is currently streaming on Netflix. The film, produced by Sameer Nair, Deepak Segal, and Anupama Chopra, and directed by Raghav Khanna, runs for 1 hour and 14 minutes and is available in English.
