Grammy Winning Singer Cissy Houston Passes Away At 91

Grammy-winning gospel singer Cissy Houston, is absorbed in heaven’s five elements as she passed away post suffering chronic disease. The artist on Monday, October 08 passed away at the age of 91 breathing her last at the New Jersey home.

The two time grammy awardee and Whitney Houston’s mother was known for her albums like ‘The Sweet Inspirations’, ‘Songs of faith & inspiration’, ‘Sweets for my Sweet’ and many more. Her daughter-in-law who was there with her during her last time informed everyone about the death and stated to The Associated Press that the artist died while she was under hospice care for her Alzheimer’s disease, surrounded by her family.

“Our hearts are filled with pain and sadness. We loss the matriarch of our family. Mother Cissy has been a strong and towering figure in our lives. A woman of deep faith and conviction, who cared greatly about family, ministry, and community. Her more than seven-decade career in music and entertainment will remain at the forefront of our hearts.” Pat Houston said in a statement. She also added Cissy’s contributions to popular music and culture have been “unparalleled“. Daughter Whitney also shared an instagram post with a long penned note to update the freinds and family about the death of her mom.

Houston became an in-demand session singer and recorded more than 600 songs in multiple genres throughout her career. Her vocals can be heard on tracks alongside a wide range of artists including Donny Hathaway, Jimi Hendrix, Beyoncé, Roberta Flack and daughter Whitney Houston herself.
