The 1990s saw many rumours about the romantic relationship between the ‘King of Romance’, singer Kumar Sanu and timeless actress Kunickaa Sadanand. Their alleged affair became the talk of the town, especially as Kumar Sanu was reportedly in a relationship while being married. Over the years, Kunickaa chose to remain tight-lipped about the details and specifics of their bond. But in a recent interview with Siddharth Kannan, she gave an emotional and candid glimpse into their relationship.
Kumar Sanu Cheat on Kunickaa Sadanand?
When asked if Kumar Sanu cheated on Kunickaa Sadanand, Kunickaa paused for nearly 10 seconds, visibly emotional, before saying, “Main roungi nahi (I will not cry)” and then added, “Main nahi bolna chahti (I don’t want to say anything).” Her silence spoke volumes though.
Recalling their relationship, Kunickaa shared, “Vo insaan bahut khush hai. Unke bacche aur sabke liye dua deti hu chahe vo bete ho, wife ho (He is very happy. I pray for his children and everyone, whether it’s his sons or wife).” She continued, “I really, really loved him. Truly from the bottom of my heart.”
Does She Still Love Him?
When asked if she still loves Kumar Sanu, Kunickaa revealed how her husband would notice her reaction to his songs. “My husband used to tell me, ‘Whenever you hear his voice, something happens to you.’ Yes, it used to happen, but I never thought of going back.”
Kunickaa admitted, “I don’t leave love for anyone. They always have a place in my heart. Some corner will always belong to them.” She added that she would be “one phone call away” if Kumar Sanu or any of her ex-partners ever needed her.
Kunickaa revealed their relationship spanned from 1991 to 1995 or 1996, lasting almost five years. She described their bond as deeply personal, saying, “I was like a wife to him. I considered him like my husband.” However, they never made their relationship public in Mumbai
