Watch the making of hit film Josh starring Shahrukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai, Chandrachur Singh, Sharad Kapoor and Priya Gill in pivotal roles. The film was directed by Mansoon Khan and hit the silver screen in June 2000.
It became the fifth highest-grossing film of 2000 in India. The music of the film was given by Anu Malik.
The interesting fact is that Shahrukh Khan wasn’t even the first choice for the film. Mansoon was initially considering Salman Khan for the role of Max but then he didn’t sign him because he was dating Aishwarya Rai. He didn’t want any fights or fall-outs in the future and therefore, he signed Shahrukh.
Mansoon then wanted to bring Shahrukh and Aamir together in the film. Aamir was offered the character of Rahul Sharma, which was then played by Chandrachur Singh. Aamir wasnted to change his image and he no longer wanted to play the lover boy or romantic hero. Therefore, he rejected the film.
Mansoon wanted to cast Kajol as the female lead but she rejected as she didn’t want the pairing up of her and Shah Rukh Khan to get repetitive. Aishwarya was then chosen as female lead.
A.R. Rahman was first signed to compose music for the film but he then opted out due to his other work commitments. Mansoon then roped in Anu Malik and asked him to quickly complete the music so that the film could release on time.
