Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh who tied the knot in Lake Como, Italy in December 2018, are just months away from celebrating their first wedding anniversary. Deepika in a recent interview was asked why she and then-boyfriend, and now husband, Ranveer Singh never lived together before marriage. Deepika revealed how living together before marriage would not have anything to discover about each other later when they tied the knot.
She said, “If we had started living together earlier, then what would we be discovering later on? That’s what this year has been, living together and discovering each other. I like to say we made the best decision of our lives. I know people are cynical about marriage, but that hasn’t been our experience. We believe in the institution, and we’re enjoying every bit of it.”
Deepika also spoke about how she and Ranveer were not at all keen on having a traditional wedding. She admitted that though there was a lot of temptation to move away from the traditions, given the fact that the two are constantly travelling, but it was important to her. She revealed how Ranveer was okay with whatever. She recalled him saying whatever makes her happy makes him happy. But she wanted to do everything at the right time, just like how she saw her parents do and she didn’t know any other way.
On the work front, Deepika wrapped up shooting for Meghna Gulzar’s Chhapaak where she will be seen essaying the role of an acid attack survivor. She is completed filming for Kabir Khan’s ’83 where she plays the role of Romi Dev and plays Ranveer Singh’s on-screen wife.
