When Sushant Singh Rajput Beat Sonam Kapoor At The Box Office

Sushant Singh Rajput’s sudden demise has triggered Outsider Vs Insider debate in the Bollywood industry. Who is to be blamed? The filmmakers who don’t give fair chance to outsiders, or the star kids who are born with privileges or the audience who follow A-listers and never appreciate the hard work and talent of outsiders and later blame others. Well, that debate is never ending. But we have an interesting fact for you. Did you know that two outsiders together beat a star kid at the box office? Yes, it happened last year when three films- Dream Girl, Chhichhore and The Zoya Factor released around the same time. Dream Girl and Chhicchore starred Ayushmann Khurrana and Sushant Singh Rajput respectively, while The Zoya Factor starred star kid Sonam Kapoor who thinks that it’s her karma to be born in a privileged family. Dream Girl and Chhichhore did well at the box office, while The Zoya Factor bombed. The maker of Zoya Factor blamed the success of two films for the failure of his film. He said in an interview, “The Zoya Factor could not do well at the box-office because of two very good movies were already in the theatres with our film. Sushant Singh Rajput’s film Chhichhore and Ayushmann Khurrana’s Dream Girl had already released a week earlier and were doing extremely well. In such a situation, our film was not a choice for the viewers and they did not want to spend money to watch The Zoya Factor.” Well, times are changing and so is the preference of audience.
