Better recognised for his character Karna in TV serial Mahabharata, Indian actor Pankaj Dheer is a prevalent name in the Bollywood industry. His acting and varied skills not always brought him ample success, but the actor did learn a lot from his journey since his childhood. Not many people know how a committment from Dheer’s father led him see the worse side of his life.

An interview with Pankaj Dheer reveals how a word given by father, C.L. Dheer led to him growing up early. When the actor was reminisced through an old memory when his father’s film starring Dharmendra and Geeta Bali was shelved, Pankaj unveiled the real reason behind the same and the struggles that came after it. The 1963 film that was originally named as “Raano”, had actress Geeta Bali as its main lead. Not only was she the main character but also the producer of the same alongwith Dheer’s father. As the last few days of the post-production were left, Geeta Bali was caught with a disease, Smallpox. Unfortunately, the actress passed away due to the chronic illness, but she took a promise from C.L. Dheer of letting the film go, as she leaves the world.
Pankaj Dheer On His Family Struggles
C.L. Dheer, with his loyalty gave his word to the late actress to drop the movie. Never did he agree to replace her with anyone else. This stiff attitude led Dheer’s father to lose out on all the money that was spent on the project. Actors like Dilip Kumar and Meena Kumari also failed to change the adamant thought. Later, this brought the Dheer family a really tough time. Recalling those days, Pankaj tells they were too young, and there were expenses like school fees, household expenses that piled up.
