Film director David Dhawan recently made a revelation about how his son, Bollywood star Varun Dhawan was envy of his co-star Sidharth Malhotra. Varun who made his debut with the 2012 college-romance drama “Student Of The Year” opposite Alia Bhatt and Sidharth Malhotra felt insecure of Sidharth who also debuted through the same.
The insights were revealed by father, David Dhawan who was also the director of Varun Dhawan’s second break in movie, “Main Tera Hero”. In a latest interaction at Arbaaz Khan’s show – The Invincibles, the director spoke about how his son grew to stepping into the acting career. He said he was shocked to see that Varun is making a choice to be in the film industry. He told at the show that the father-son duo never really talked about cinemas, or this indsutry at home.

“When Varun came back from abroad after studying, all of a sudden, he went to Karan Johar asking to assist him. And that’s how he started with assisting Karan Johar in My Name Is Khan“. the director said. Adding further Daddy Dhawan told Arbaaz Khan that how Karan Johar one day visited him to confess that he wanted to launch Varun Dhawan along with two more debut stars. For the same, they did a photoshoot with Sidharth Malhotra. David then tells, ‘During the shooting of SOTY, Varun felt insecure, particularly because of Sidharth Malhotra. I was with him on set, and some days he used to be very upset”.
Further in the interview, he explains how he motivated his son to not be self-conscious and such things always happen in a two-hero film. Both Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra got their first break through Karan Johar’s SOTY. After this college-romance movie, Varun was casted alongside Nargis Fakhri and Ileana D’ Cruz in Main Tera Hero and Sidharth worked in Hasee Toh Phasee. These were actors’ first individually leading films.
Clearly, it’s no war between the actors and both are often seeing meeting and reuniting with each other at parties and events, however the first stance did make Varun a bit more possesive on his performance.
