In an old interview podcast, Sajid-Wajid talked about the making of one of their biggest hits to date – “Teri Jawaani Badi Mast Mast Hai” and how it became one of the most beloved tracks in Bollywood history.
Sajid-Wajid discussed how their collaboration with Sohail Khan, for the film Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya, came about. With the urge to do something creative following the trend of Qawwali, Sajid-Wajid created a song that was a mix of different musical tales. As Wajid quotes,We wanted to do something extraordinary with the Sabri brothers. They have a wonderful voice and are mind blowing. So we definitely wanted to do an extraordinary job with them”, they wanted to give the song to someone who is just right for it.
As they heard that Sohail working on this film called, ‘Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya’ for his film, they decided to approach him with their latest composition. And that’s how the evergreen song “Teri Jawaani” – a quirky, upbeat track went on becoming a fan favorite.
Sajid-Wajid recalled how this song had a major impact in their music journey ahead. Blending in the taste of every music element, the song really worked wonders for that film”, said Sajid.
Further in the conversation, the duo stressed on the fact that creativity is not something that you have to sit with a pen-paper or a guitar on a table. Creativity is something that just oozes out from within. Inspiration for creativity is another factor that the brothers believe is not person or event-specific. The brothers personally feel to be inspired, it is not a mandate to have someone specific in your life, it can be anyone.
