The World Witnesses Pandemic Hit Bollywood’s Naked And Ugly Side

Hindi Film industry is one of the adversely hit industries during the pandemic with artists running out of work. In such hard times, when the industry was supposed to stand together, is stooping to new levels.

“All that glitters is not gold”- What could be a better example of this popular saying than the Hindi film industry?

The industry that is the holder of countless rags to riches stories, the one that made people believe that dreams do come true now seems like a swamp full of alligators. Over the years, the showbiz industry lost its dignity as the ‘Me Too’ movement originated in the West gained momentum in India. And with actors and filmmakers finally gathering up the courage to acknowledge the existence of casting couch, we knew that something was terribly wrong with the industry. But the year 2020 has turned out to be a total reality check.

At a time when the world is fighting a pandemic named coronavirus, members of the Bollywood industry are busy fighting each other. The death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput has sparked a fire amongst people. Will this fire test the purity or burn a few souls, we can’t predict!

Kangana Ranaut has given explosive interviews after Sushant’s saddening demise dragging names of several bigwigs like Karan Johar and Aditya Chopra. In a greedy need to prove her point, she labels self-made actors Taapsee Pannu and Swara Bhaskar ‘B-grade actresses’. Her statement obviously follows a hard-hitting reply from Taapsee and Swara who didn’t see this coming in the first place.

The debate on Sushant’s death, the debate on Insider vs Outsider has now taken a much ugly turn as Outsiders are busy fighting fellow outsiders with the insiders probably grabbing some popcorn and enjoying the whole show.

Instead of showing solidarity towards the grieving family, people of the industry are busy targeting each other, spewing allegations on each other. The ‘Entertainment’ industry is for sure entertaining the whole would by exhibiting the lowest level of mockery no one has ever seen.

A  peaceful digital protest to demand justice for Sushant Singh Rajput was arranged where people came together to light a candle in his name. Subramanian  Swamy, Ankita Lokhande, Kangana Ranaut and Shekhar Suman were a few to participate in the march. Celebrities like Kareena Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra, Salman Khan and others were nowhere to be seen. This gives a clear indication that either they are sure that Sushant died by suicide or their egos are hurt due to the ongoing debate. The very celebrities who actively posted during the ‘Black Lives Matter’ movement in the west have turned a blind eye to the mess in their backyard.

Hindi Film industry is one of the adversely hit industries during the pandemic with artists running out of work. The number of suicide cases have increased as the struggling artists and daily wagers of the industry are unable to pay their bills. In such hard times, when the industry was supposed to stand together, is stooping to new levels.

Every workplace has stumbling blocks. But it also has some professionalism and ground rules. ‘Bollywood’ industry seems to have none as it has come out of its threshold to dance naked.
