Swaggy Sardar Wins Punjab’s Biggest Digital Talent Hunt; ‘Moj Next Punjabi Star’

Swaggy Sardar from Bhatinda wins Moj Next Punjabi Star taking home a cash prize of INR 2,50,000 followed by Chakshu Kotwal as the first runner up and Vish Singh as the second runner up.

Honoring and uplifting the desi talent in our home ground, India’s no.1 short video app “Moj” concluded their month-long contest, “Moj Punjabi Next Star”. With over 10 billion video plays on the hashtag, more than 1 Lakh creators participated in Moj Next Punjabi Star making it Punjab’s biggest digital talent hunt ever.

After 4 weeks of extensive auditions on the platform from 22nd November to 17th December, the contest saw 30 creators in the grand finale fighting for the coveted title. Moj announced their winners today. Crowned as the Moj Next Punjabi Star, 22-year-old Swaggy Sardar from Bhatinda charmed the hearts of the audience with his performances and won a whopping INR 250,000. Chakshu Kotwal, a talented musician from Mohali became the first runner up winning INR 100,000 and ‘thatbrownfam’ aka Vish Singh entertained his way up to bag the second runner up taking home INR 50,000.

The participants were required to make videos showcasing their talent using the hashtag #MojNextPunjabiStar. The contest amassed over 6,00,000+ UGC pouring in making this IP a phenomenal success for the brand. Entries with content spanning across all genres – dance, music, culinary, illusion and so much more took the competition a notch higher.

Hosted by the vivacious Priyanka Tyagi and judged by Punjab’s very own playback singer-writer Akhil, this campaign was launched with an aim to provide a platform for the state brimming with creative individuals. Punjab has proved itself as the locus of versatility, it has provided our nation with some of the best artists in all fields. Moj’s contest further iterates Punjab’s vast pool of talent.

On winning “Moj’s Next Punjabi Star”, Swaggy Sardar said, “I have only been able to get to this point because of all the love and support that my talent has gotten. I couldn’t believe it when I found out I had won “Moj’s Next Punjabi Star”; I became really emotional, and my mother couldn’t stop herself from crying happy tears. My entire family and I are really thankful to Moj for recognizing my skill and extending so much support to me. Vish Singh said, “I am a software engineer currently based out of Chandigarh. I have always dreamed of Bhangra to get a national stage. Today only because of Moj, me and my art form both are being recognized widely and I am really thankful for this opportunity.”
