Puneet Issar Shares People Used To Call Him Dusht For Playing Duryodhan

BR Chopra’s Mahabharat and Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan are currently the top shows in Indian Television. Even though they were first aired 30 years ago, both the shows have garnered immense love and appreciation from the audience. For many Indian’s it’s memory down the lane but for today’s generation, it is something new and compelling. Puneet Issar who played the role of Duryodhan in Mahabharat shares how people used to call him evil for playing such character, he said, “I was called ‘dusht’, people hated me but I took it as a compliment. There were many cases off sets when people refused to call me saying that I was ‘dusht’.” Puneet is the only actor among whole cast who got his dream role, but BR Chopra agreed to cast him as Duryodhan on one condition that is, they have to find a man bigger than him for the role of Bheem and if they fail to do so he will have to take up the role and that’s when Puneet himself recommended Praveen Kumar for the Bheem’s role.
