Guddan Tumse Na Ho Payega (Zee TV, 2018 – 2020) and Bigg Boss 14 (Colors TV, 2020) fame TV star Nishant Singh Malkani is an active social media user. From posting reels on Instagram to keeping his fans updated with his vacation pictures, he does it all. However, he feels that number of followers on social media has no relation with an actor or a celebrity’s talent.

Sharing his views on the same, he said, “The number of followers has become an ego game. People are wrongly focusing on the number of followers more than the body of work of an actor. It has become a parameter of talent, and a parameter of fame for people to boast about, so even though people are making efforts, some are faking it on social media just to gain more followers”.

He also went on to add, “There are many actors who are great at their jobs, but they don’t have a huge social media following because that’s not their forte, they don’t like to do that, they just don’t fit in that kind of scenario whereas there are some very regular actors who have ten times more number of followers. So I don’t think that the number of followers is a measurement of talent at all”.

The Ram Milaayi Jodi actor also asserted that though social media has bridged the gap between actors and their fans, people should be careful while sharing a post on social media because there are a lot of people who look up to them and want to imitate them.

On this point, Nishant said, “Social media has become a part of every actor’s life. Everyone is looking for maximum reach and maximum connection with the audience and social media is the best possible way for that. You get the first-hand response of the audience and first-hand love of the masses”.

Furthermore, he also added, “But with great power comes great responsibility. If someone is a really big influencer on social media and is influencing millions of people, then that person should take it seriously and only post what they think is healthy and safe for people to emulate”.

When asked that do you think social media is more of an ego massage tool?. On this Nishant concluding the interview in a parting note said, “It is absolutely. Because more than your body of work, you are boasting about your number of followers, and getting false respect out of that”.
