Actor Ghanshyam Nayak, who is best known for playing the role of Nattu Kaka in the popular sitcom ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ has passed away. He was 77 years old and was battling cancer for several months. He took his last breath on Sunday.
TMKOC’s producer Asit Modi confirmed the news as he posted the picture of Ghanshyam Nayak and wrote, “Om Shanti.”
Ghanshyam was diagnosed with throat cancer in September 2020, when doctors detected a lump in his neck. After that, several tumours were removed from his body during a surgery that took place in the same month. Post-surgery, his health had improved, but it again deteriorated this year. Further medical tests suggested that he was still carrying malignant tumours as some more spots were detected.
Tanmay Vekeria, who plays Bagga in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, told a leading daily, “I got the news first as his son called me at 5:45 pm. His condition failed to improve after his hospitalisation a few months back. He passed away today at 5:30 pm. He was a gem and was closest to me. He tried his best to work again with us but his health did not permit. I am very saddened that he is gone.”
Ghanshyam Nayak had worked in about 350 Hindi serials. He will always be remembered for his contribution to Indian Television.
May his soul rest in peace!
