Fans mock Amitabh Bachchan for Insulting Maratha Ruler Shivaji on KBC

Amitabh Bachchan on a recent episode of KBC referred to the Mughal ruler Aurangzeb as ‘Samrat’ were as called the ruler of the Maratha by his name ‘Shivaji.’ And now Netizens are criticising KBC and Amitabh Bachchan.

Amitabh Bachchan who hosts the 11th season of Kaun Banega Crorepati has in the news as only three contestants took home Rs 1 crore on the show and no one was able to win the jackpot. And though the show is doing pretty well on the TRP charts, but has now got involved in some controversy which has led to #BoycottKBC to trend on social media.

Amitabh Bachchan in the recent episode of the show asked the contestant a question based on Indian history which seems to have angered some people as their sentiments were hurt. The questioned asked was, “Which of these rulers was the contemporary of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb?” Followed by the four options, Maharana Pratap, Rana Sanga, Maharaja Ranjit Singh, and Shivaji.

Twitter was filled with angry tweets mocking Amitabh and KBC and criticized him for referring to the Mughal ruler Aurangzeb as ‘Samrat’ and calling the historical ruler of Maratha just by his name ‘Shivaji’. And now people are asking the channel and the actor to apologize for not giving Shivaji the respect he deserves as they feel it was a sign of disrespect towards Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

Soon the channel issued an apology on their official Twitter handle that read, “There was an inaccurate reference to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj during Wednesday’s KBC episode, due to inadvertence. We deeply regret the same and being mindful of the sentiments of our viewers have carried a scroll expressing regret during our episode yesterday. #KBC11 (sic).”
