Mahashivratri holds a special place in Jay Prakash Sharma’s heart. It’s not only because he is a Shiv devotee, but also for the fact that the director started his TV career as the director of the much-loved show Devon Ke Dev Mahadev.

Opening up about the same, he says, “Today is Mahashivratri, the day of Lord Shiva. This day comes every year, but, for me every day is Mahashivratri. I pray to the Lord every day, have immense faith in him… When I was directing the show, the feeling was same. I couldn’t thank Lord Shiva enough for giving me this opportunity to do a show like this. It was a wonderful experience to direct one of TV’s biggest shows. It was an honour”.

He celebrates Mahashivratri every year without fail. This year too he will be offering his prayers to God along with his family. He has already made preparation for the puja.

Devon Ke Dev Mahadev (DKDM, Life OK) achieved cult status. People still talk about the show and even every rerun enjoys good viewership and speaking in details about it, he says, “Mahadev was closest to my heart. The show made history and got overwhelming love and support from the audience. It became one of those mythological shows that hopefully will continue to impress generations. Working with Mohit Raina (he played the role of Mahadev) and Sonarika Bhadoria (Parvati) was a different joy altogether. Both are brilliant and dedicated performers. We worked closely, from reading scripts, doing our preps, to having discussions regarding how we can do things better. It was like our baby that we nurtured and loved to our heart’s content. Thankfully, our hard work paid off”.
