Cut to yesterday, Jalota’s marriage pictures with Jasleen from the sets of their upcoming film went viral, creating a stir if the two have got married to each other.
Jalota said that he has been receiving several messages on his phone congratulating him on marrying Jasleen, after the first look pictures of Ye Meri Student Hai broke out. “I have been telling them Aapko bhi mubarak ho,” Jalota said.
When asked if that will be sending out wrong signals? Doesn’t it hint in some way that he has married Jasleen? Jalota laughed, “What else do I tell people who believe forwarded messages and misconstrue whatever they see online? Those who’re clearly asking if Jasleen and I have got married to each other, I am definitely telling them a clear ‘No’.”
We also asked Jalota upfront if he would have married Jasleen if he had been, say, 35 years old today.

Anup Jalota on Jasleen shot back, “Not at all. I wouldn’t have married her. Her modern and glamorous dressing wouldn’t have been appreciated in my family culture.”
Is he saying that he doesn’t approve of women dressing up in a modern and glamorous style? “No, I am not saying that. I am just saying it wouldn’t have gone down well with the people around me, ” Jalota clarified, adding. “Hum toh dhoti-kurta wale hain who sings devotional songs. How would Jasleen’s avatar have been in sync with that?”
The conversation drifted towards Dr Abhinit Gupta, the Bhopal-based doctor who Jalota had recommended as Jasleen’s husband. “That didn’t work out. Their kundlis did not match.”
Asked if Jasleen was heartbroken, since she had fallen in love with that man? “Hmmm…, but I spoke to her on the phone and after that, she was fine,” Jalota says, hinting that a certain amount of consolation had to be provided to Jasleen.
Dr Gupta is fighting a messy divorce with his wife. Jalota clarified, “Jasleen was okay about that aspect of Dr Gupta.”
