Akshay Kumar to skip his Cannes appearance after he tested positive for COVID-19

For all the Akshay Kumar fans who were waiting for his Cannes festival appearance, here’s some bad news for you. The actor will not be walking the red carpet this year as he has been tested positive for COVID-19 infection.

Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar announced the news on his Twitter account as he wrote, “Was really looking forward to rooting for our cinema at the India Pavilion at #Cannes2022, but have sadly tested positive for Covid. Will rest it out. Loads of best wishes to you and your entire team, @ianuragthakur. Will really miss being there.”.

The news left his fans disappointed as the audience has been expecting to see the actor on the Cannes red carpet.

Meanwhile, through his tweet, the actor expressed how excited he has been about his appearance at the India Pavilion at Cannes2022 but due to the infection, he will have to skip it this year. This is the second time that the actor has been tested positive for COVID-19. On April 2021, the actress shared the news of his COVID infection soon after which his wife Twinkle Khanna updated his fans about his normalizing health.

The actor has been gearing up for his upcoming release Prithviraj where he will be seen sharing the screen with Miss World 2017 Manushi Chillar. Prithviraj is Chandraprakash Dwivedi’s directorial. The film stars Akshay in the title role of King Prithviraj Chauhan of the Chauhan dynasty. Sonu Sood and Sanjay Dutt are also a part of the film, which will be out in theatres on June 3. Prithviraj will release in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.

On the work front, the actor has multiple films in his bag like Ram Setu, ‘Raksha Bandhan’, ‘Mission Cinderella’, ‘Selfiee’, ‘Soorarai Pottru Remake’ and ‘OMG 2’.
