Jessica Mulroney’s Husband Walks Out Of A TV Show After ‘White Privilege’ Scandal

In the midst of the "white privilege" scandal, Jessica Mulroney 's husband has quit his TV show, which has cost the stylist several jobs and her friendship with Meghan Markle.

On Monday, Ben Mulroney – Jessica Mulroney’s husband revealed he’s stepping down as the host of “etalk” Canadian television show — and hopes a non-white person will take his place.

The news comes after his co-host, Elaine Liu, wrote an excoriating blog about the couple, claiming ominously that the Mulroney’s are “keeping the track” of those who don’t support Jessica in the midst of the scandal.

Back on June 10, black lifestyle influencer Sasha Exeter, based in Toronto shared a video on Instagram calling for people with significant platforms to use it to support the Black Lives Matter movement. She later posted a video, alleging that Mulroney took the post as a personal attack on her, and threatened to damage the career of Exeter.

Speaking on CTV’s “Your Day,” Ben — the son of former Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney — said:  “I love my wife, however it is not my place to speak for her, and today we are both committed to doing the work to understand more about anti-black racism as well as learn and understand more about our blind spots.”

Mulroney admitted that his “privilege has benefited [him] greatly,” adding: “While I have certainly worked hard to build my career, I know that systemic racism and injustice helps people like me and harms those who aren’t like me, often in ways that are invisible to us. This needs to change.”

“More than ever, we need more black voices, more Indigenous voices, more people of colour in the media as well as every other profession,” he added, “and that is why I have decided to immediately step away from my role at ‘etalk’ to create space for a new perspective and a new voice.”

Ben’s exit comes after his co-host Elaine Lui shared a lengthy post on her blog Lainey Gossip, where she wrote that other people in Canadian media have their own “Jessica Mulroney stories,” but she’s got “powerful allies.” Lui added, “Many of us ‘liked’ Sasha Exeter’s post last week and we’re pretty sure that the Mulroneys are keeping track of them.

Jessica was axed on her “I Do, Redo” reality show as well as on her “Good Morning America” show. She was also forced to step down from the charity, she founded with her three sisters-in-law.
