Cannes Film Festival To Be Rescheduled Amidst Coronavirus Scare

The organizers of the Cannes Film Festival 2020 have decided to postpone the grand event because of the coronavirus scare. Read below to know more.

The Cannes Film Festival’s 2020 edition has been postponed by the organizers due to the Coronavirus outbreak that has engulfed almost every country on earth. Speculations were already circulating about the prestigious film festival being canceled due to fear of infection in the midst of COVID 19 scare and now the rumors have turned out to be real.

The mega-event was initially expected to take place in France from 12 May to 23 May 2020.

Reports indicate that the organizers are planning to stage the prestigious event by the end of June or early July 2020. It has also been stated that there will be monitoring of the health situation in France before considering the organization of the event there again.

As we all know, due to the Coronavirus epidemic countries in Europe are amongst the worst-hit areas. Considering the situation, the organizers must also undergo a consultation with the Cannes City Hall and the French Government.

The festival has also expressed its solidarity for all those who have been battling the deadly virus. France has been completely locked in the wake of the COVID-19 panic.

In recent weeks the country reported multiple deaths and infections. Due to the current situation around the world, several other international activities including many film festivals have been postponed in the last few days.
