Meghan Markle breaks her silence and talks about negative media attention she received!

Meghan Markle during the ITV special, Harry & Meghan: An African Journey, gets candid about the negative media attention she got on marrying Prince Harry and on being a mother

With the constant scrutiny of the public eye and the media, being a part of the Royal family is not an easy task, and who knows it better than Meghan Markle. Meghan since she got engaged to Prince Harry, was viewed through a  microscopic lens, with her every action decoded, and furthermore, judged. Not only that but, on being welcomed into the Royal fold the press of Britain first openly accepted her, but soon got increasingly hostile with their coverage as they focused on Meghan’s fractured American family and fueled rumours of palace rifts.

And though Meghan armoured up and turned a deaf ear to all the negativity, the fact being she’s human and there’s only so much one can take. Meghan in the ITV special, Harry & Meghan: An African Journey openly spoke up about the negative media attention she received and she wasn’t spared even when she got pregnant and then a mother to son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.

Meghan in her interview confessed, “Any woman, especially when they’re pregnant, you’re really vulnerable, and so that was made really challenging. Then when you have a newborn, you know. And especially as a woman, it’s a lot. So, you add this on top of just trying to be a new mom or trying to be a newlywed. It’s um… yeah. I guess, also thank you for asking, because not many people have asked if I’m okay, but it’s a very real thing to be going through behind the scenes.”

On being asked if her statement should be taken as a confirmation that she is really not ok and how it has been a struggle for her, she said, “Yes.”
