Taapsee Pannu’s much-awaited film ‘Thappad’ has finally hit the screens today. Unfortunately, a section of people is boycotting the film as Taapsee attended Anti-CAA Protest in Mumbai last month.
On Jan 6, Taapsee had made a Tweet where she invited people to join the protest. Calling for a boycott, a user wrote, “We boycott @taapsee movie thappad. As she is the part of #UrbanNaxals and #TukdeTukdeGang. We don’t want to see Naxals movie.”

Another user wrote, “I too will not tolerate such remarks against my Nation & Government. I will boycott films & ALL PRODUCTS endorsed by such irresponsible stars.”
With such hate tweets, #BoycottThappad started trending on Twitter.
#boycottthappad she stand with anti CAA protest . Then also she thinks we will see her movie . Now they will not say about violence in Delhi made by the anti CAA supporters . Shame on you.

Addressing the same, Taapsee said in an interview, “I might have different social and political views from a lot of people but that does not mean people will not go and watch the film. An actor is never bigger than a film.”
She also said that a few thousand tweets may not necessarily affect a film.
Well, previous to this, Bollywood film Chhapaak was boycotted by fans because Deepika Padukone visited JNU and took part in the protest a day before the release of the film. As a result, the film garnered very low ratings and collections and it was labeled a ‘Big Flop’ at the box office.
We now have to see how ‘Thappad’ performs at the box office.
