Ever since the tragic death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, there have been many heated arguments on the internet about the existing nepotism and favouritism in the Bollywood industry. Amid all the blame-game, actress Kangana Ranaut has also unapologetically bashed B-Town members.
The Queen actress who is known for making bold statements recently targeted Taapsee Pannu saying that outsiders like her often support Karan Johar. For the unversed, Karan Johar’s name was dragged through the mud by netizens post-Sushant Singh Rajput’s death alleging that the filmmaker boycotted the late actor in the industry.
However, post-Kangana’s remarks, Taapsee seemed in no mood to deal with the same. Pannu gave a befitting reply and accused Kangana Ranaut of taking advantage of Sushant’s death.
While talking about the same with Hindustan Times, Taapsee said, “I refuse to be bitter. I refuse to take advantage of someone’s death for personal vendetta and I refuse to make mockery out of the industry that gave me bread and identity. As an actor who wants to speak up and address important issues that have happened with me which can help empower others, I did speak up when I was wrongfully replaced in Pati Patni Aur Woh. I called out a wrong practice and had the director of the film supporting me then. Yes, I’ve been dropped out of films and replaced with star kids but the fact that Kangana and her sister (Rangoli Chandel) try to discredit me and my hard work, call me names, put wrong allegations on me, is actually an equal level of harassment, if not more.”
Sharing her views on Karan Johar statement, Taapsee said that she never mentioned anywhere about liking Karan Johar or anyone else whom Kangana has alleged. The Thappad actress further added that she never mentioned hating KJo either.
Explaining herself, Taapsee said, “The fact that you don’t hate someone she (Kangana Ranaut) hates, is equivalent to ‘you like that person and you suck up to that person’? I don’t even know him behind the formal ‘hi, hello, thank you’. How is this even logical?”
For the unversed, in a recent interaction with Republic TV on the Sushant Singh Rajput row, Kangana had said that only she has to lose here in Bollywood because the movie mafia gangs in the industry will get 20 needy outsiders like Taapsee Pannu and Swara Bhasker who will later claim that only she has a problem with nepotism, but we love Karan Johar.
Kangana later made some controversial remarks saying that even after liking KJo both Swara and Taapsee are still B-grade actresses. She said, “If you love Karan Johar, why you both are B-grade actresses? You are better looking than Alia Bhatt and Ananya Panday. You both are better actresses. Why don’t you get work? Your whole existence is proof of nepotism. What are you telling me how happy you are with the industry? So, I know this happens and the whole system will make me look like a mad person.”
Kangana’s statement evidently didn’t go well with Taapsee who later refused to call the latter the flag bearer of nepotism in Bollywood.
