“It’s Not Your Age Shahrukh…” Shatrughan Sinha Recalls STOPPING Shah Rukh Khan For His Aggressive Smoking Habit

Shatrughan Sinha recalled how Shahrukh Khan came running towards him while feeling uneasy to breathe, and Sinha warned him to stop smoking before it gets lethal.

Veteran Bollywood star Shatrughan Sinha is a popular name in the industry. Popular by the name “shotgun”, Shatrughan is a celebrated actor in the film industry who has not only left his footprint on the Indian cinema, but also became an integral part of the political industry nationwide. The actor turned politician recently interacted with Lehren Retro, where he reflected on his principles as an actor, as a leader in power and also a proud father, husband and a fond friend of many recognizable faces like Amitabh Bachchan, Shahrukh Khan, Rajni Kanth and more. Recalling the old days of another renowned actor Shahrukh Khan and his deadly smoking habits, Shatrughan Sinha revealed how this 80 year old veteran star urged the king of Bollywood to stop smoking seeing his ill-health.

In an exclusive chat with Lehren Retro, Shatrughan Sinha reminisced about an old time when Shatrughan Sinha saw Shahrukh Khan dancing on a stage at a Bollywood event. Sinha revealed how SRK came forward panting towards him and his wife Poonam Sinha after his performance. Shahrukh apologizing said, “Sorry sir, I think my age is catching up with me”, Sinha answered the uneasy SRK that it was not the age, but his cigarettes reacting. Shatrughan said, “No Shahrukh, it’s not your age, it’s your smoking!..”

The conversation came into light after the senior most journalist Bharathi S Pradhan asked Shatrughan’s views on SRK’s recent announcement about completely giving up on alcohol. He highlighted his anti-tobacco campaigns that were successfully run and operated by him solely. Sinha also talked about his own smoking habits, and how he and Bollywood’s Big B together swore to not smoke anymore. Sinha urged the audience via Lehren Retro, to stop smoking with any excuse they want, stressing onto the harmful impacts it has caused to people who are still in the industry besides just Shahrukh Khan.

Renowned for his powerful voice, charismatic screen presence, and versatile acting, Sinha became a household name in the 1970s and 1980s with iconic roles in films like “Kalicharan”, “Dostana”, and “Kaala Patthar”.
