Sanjay Leela Bhansali is all geared up to introduce a new actor opposite his leading lady Alia Bhatt in his upcoming venture titled Gangubai Kathiawadi. The ace filmmaker is all set to star 29-year old Shantanu Maheshwari as the romantic lead in his movie. Earlier there were many speculations about the same but the news is now confirmed.
Speaking of Shantanu Maheshwari, he is a trained dancer from Kolkata who got his major breakthrough on television with Dil Dosti Dance. He played the lead in the show for two years and garnered a lot of fan following for his boy next door image. Maheshwari has also appeared in several other dance reality shows and other small-screen projects.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi will mark Shantanu Maheshwari’s Bollywood debut and his fans are elated by the news. Sources claim that SLB saw Shantanu on a reality show and immediately saw star potential him. Later, Maheshwari was called to by Bhansali to his office and that’s how the glamorous screen debut fell into his lap.
The source also added that Bhansali intends to introduce Shantanu Maheshwari to the audience in a big way.

Earlier, SLB had introduced Ranbir Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor to Bollywood with Saawariya. He later introduced Meezaan Jaffrey and Sharmin Segal in the 2019 movie Malaal.
Shantanu Maheshwari has his stars favour him to have such a great debut in Bollywood under the watchful eyes of Bollywood’s noteworthy director, Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
Meanwhile, there are speculations that Ranveer Singh will have a special appearance in Gangubai Kathiawadi. Reportedly, Ranveer will have a brief yet important role in the movie.
Gangubai Kathiawadi was slated to release on September 11, 2020, but the makers had to push forward the release date as the shooting process got stalled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
