Looks like Bong Joon Ho’s fans have to wait a little longer to watch the director’s long-awaited return on the big screens. Recent reports from Variety informs that Warner Bros. Pictures has rescheduled the release of Bong Joon Ho’s film *Mickey 17* from January 31 next year to April 18. The movie, starring Robert Pattinson, will be released globally in IMAX. This change comes after Lionsgate decided to move the release of the Michael Jackson biopic, *Michael*, from April 18 to October 3.
A representative on behalf of Warner Bros. Pictures said, “When the date of April 18 became available, we quickly took action to secure it for ‘Mickey 17.’ We’re excited about the new release date and are very pleased that the film will be available to audiences in IMAX.”
Mickey 17 will mark Bong’s first-ever comeback ever since the breakout success of Parasite. It was originally set to arrive on March 29 this year, but in February was shifted to next year’s January release. Adapted from Edward Ashton’s 2022 novel and produced by Plan B, “Mickey 17” follows an expendable employee on a mission to colonize an ice world. He attempts to prevent his clone from replacing him. The cast features Robert Pattinson, Steven Yeun, Naomi Ackie, Toni Collette, and Mark Ruffalo. In addition to writing and directing, Bong Joon-ho also produces the film alongside Dooho Choi, Dede Gardner, and Jeremy Kleiner.
