Fateh Movie Critic Review:

He’s so cool, he’ll use hammer, nails, guns and knives to have blood flowing out of a hall full of bodies. But will walk away sipping a drink with a straw.

Fateh (Sonu Sood) is also a six-footer.

His cool and his height are the two qualities hammered home for the next two hours.

There’s little else that stays with the viewer as first-time director Sonu Sood bludgeons his way to bust industrial scale cybercrime. Crime that drains the bank accounts of a sea of unsuspecting people and ruthlessly puts victims on a torture chair for online killing that goes crazily viral. ‘Get Set Kill’ gets millions of views.

Perhaps Sonu and co-writer Ankur Pajni aimed for a tech-savvy thriller that details the magnitude of cybercrime and its devastating effect on victims. It is a noble mission.

But storytelling requires skills that go beyond intentions.

An array of bad men – Naseeruddin Shah, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Vijay Raaz et al – is brought down by Fateh (Sonu Sood) and his companion Khushi (Jacqueline Fernandes), an ethical hacker. He with fists, she with brains. Together, they tread a route strewn with bodies, boredom and bigtime confusion.

However, the technical gadgetry is unimpressively routine and the narrative so dull that oft-heard stories are repeated with infantile sincerity. Like the frog and scorpion fable that was popularised ages ago by Alia Bhatt in Darlings. Naseer drops lines like, ‘Jaan jaaogi toh jaan jayegi’. With blood even being poured out of a marble statue, the one-man nemesis for cyber criminals is simply a gory pile of mutilated bodies.

Fateh – Watch Or Not?: Cybercrime needed to be busted with more cerebral execution.

Fateh Review Score Rating: 1.5 out of 5 (i.e. 1.5/5)
