Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan To Re-Telecast Amid Coronavirus Lockdown

Citizens get excited as Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar announces the re-telecast of Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan.

The world is currently under crisis and in such a situation people are not going out of their homes as PM Modi has declared nationwide lockdown for 21 days. Everyone’s sitting in front of the TV but there’s nothing new to watch, taking this glorious chance, Prasar Bharati CEO Shashi Shekhar was recently in talks with DD national to re telecast their most iconic show Ramayan, and guess what the channel along with the makers of the hit show has given their nods to re-telecast.

This morning, Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar, shared the good news via social media, he wrote, “Happy to announce that on public demand, we are starting re-telecast of ‘Ramayana’ from tomorrow, Saturday, March 28 in DD National, One episode in morning 9 am to 10 am, another in the evening 9 pm to 10 pm.”

The series which originally ran from January 1987 to July 1988 will be re-telecast on DD National from tomorrow. Many fans of the show had urged the government to re telecast and Shashi Shekhar was also determined to re-launch no matter what. Twitterati has also urged to bring back shows such as Mahabharata, Junior G, Shaktiman and Chanakya among others.

He even hinted that more classic content will be made available on Doordarshan, he wrote, “Stay tuned for more iconic content to come back on Doordarshan over the next few days as you relive the nostalgia while we observe the Lockdown, staying home to save lives,” 

Ever since the coronavirus outbreak happened, citizens have been requested to stay home to slow down the transmission of the coronavirus. So far, more than 600 cases and 20 deaths have been reported in India.
