Masaba Gupta Reveals Why Masaba Masaba Season 2 Is Special

Fashion designer Masaba Gupta tells the second chapter of her life filmed in a show is close to her heart

The trailer of Masaba Masaba season 2 has been released. The series is based on the fashion designer’s personal and professional life, including her highs and lows. It stars real-life mother-daughter duo Neena Gupta and Masaba Gupta playing themselves. In season 2 Masaba Gupta wants to be a fashion king but life has different plans. 

The fashion designer Masaba made her acting debut with the first season of the show. The designer recently turned actor finds it special and surreal to work on the upcoming season of the show. The slice-of-life series unveils how she struggled to strike a balance between work and life building up a brand. 

Masaba Gupta, who also appeared in the Amazon Prime Video anthology series Modern Love Mumbai, said: “It was so surreal to be filming season two, given the pandemic and all the things that have happened since season one. It was special because this season has so many different tracks. It’s not just about my mom and I reclaiming our lives, it’s also about all these people around us coming into their own.”

After a successful season one, the second chapter is heart vs hustle for Masaba Gupta. The designer further added: “Season two touched my heart in so many ways, it made me laugh, it made me cry and it made me feel warm on the inside and I hope it does exactly that to all the people who see this.”

The official synopsis of the show read: “While she prepares for fashion world domination – life, as always, has other plans. Two incredibly good-looking men, one new pregnant publicist, a Qaynaat and a very thirsty mom later – Masaba realises her life is one challenge after the other. Will she emerge victorious in the journey of striking a balance between work, love and life? Or will confusion, grief, anxiety and competition come in the way?”

Apart from Masaba Gupta on whom the series is based and her mother Neena Gupta, the show also features Neil Bhoopalam, Rytasha Rathore, Ram Kapoor, Kusha Kapila, Barkha Singh, Armaan Khera, and Kareema Barry. Masaba Masaba is directed by Sonam Nair and produced by Ashvini Yardi. The series is scheduled to stream on Netflix on 29th July 2022.
