Last Of Us Season 2: Everything You Need To Know

With the end of season 1 and season 2 being announced here's what we know so far about the series.

While the whole world had their eyes on the Oscar show, a few loyal fans had their eyes somewhere else as they were watching the finale of The Last of Us. The series closely followed the storyline of the video game it’s based on, many of the fans who played the video game knew about what’s to come in the finale. The series has become a huge hit and its second season has already been announced leaving many of us wondering will season 2 follow the storyline of the game or we may be in for some twists.

While the second part of the game had a much darker theme, after the cruel ending of season 1 fans are left speculating if the cast will have to face the same dangers as shown in the game.

Craig Mazin and the game’s writer Niel Druckmann announced that Last of Us will be returning with a second season. Druckmann in a statement to Variety said “The collaboration with Craig Mazin, our incredible cast & crew, and HBO exceeded my already high expectations. Now we have the absolute pleasure of being able to do so again with season two! On behalf of everyone at Naughty Dog & PlayStation, thank you!”.

As seen with season 1 following the storyline of the game closely, it is expected that season 2 will follow the game’s storyline as well, without giving out any spoilers to those who have not played the game we can say that the story will continue with Joel and Ellie after a time skip from the original game event. Will fans get a 3rd season?

Druckmann in a statement to IGN said that the only way they would make a Part 3 is if he and Mazin had “a really good, compelling story,” but answered “no comment” about the existence of a third installment. He said that there is a “multiplayer game coming out” and there will be more updates on the game “later this year.”
