Jubilee First Look: The Golden Age Of Indian Cinema Is Back

The first trailer of Vikramaditya Motwane’s upcoming web drama Jubilee was released today. With a solid cast, the series is set in the early 20th century and depicts what the creators call the “golden age of Indian cinema”. The series will begin streaming on Prime Video on April 7th.

Prime Video shared a short teaser video for the show on their social media on Friday showcasing the cast and mood of the show. “A tale set in the golden age of Indian cinema about everything that lies between budding ambition and glamorous fame,” reads the caption.

The film begins with a look at the tram, the steamboat, and the old cinemas. A retro track plays in the background while we are introduced to the cast – Aditi Rao Hydari, Aparshakti Khurana, Prosenjit Chatterjee, Ram Kapoor, Sidhant Gupta, and Wamiqa Gabbi.

According to the official synopsis of the series: “Along with the development of India and cinema, Jubilee presents the stories and dreams that gave birth to the Indian film industry as we know it.” Rooted in the golden age of Indian cinema, Jubilee is an emotional yet poetic tale woven around a cast of characters and the risks they are willing to take to achieve their dreams, passion, ambition, and love.” Vikramaditya Motwane, Creator and Director of the Series said: “Jubilee is a love story for me since I was an assistant director and fell in love with the world of cinema, even if there was no story to tell.”(DNA)
