Huma Qureshi is basking love and praise received for her popular web show Maharani. The new season of the political drama was received recently. Just like season 1, Maharani 2 has also garnered positive reviews. While the leading actress is much lauded for portraying the character of Rani Bharti in Maharani, Huma Qureshi revealed that she was scared initially.

Huma is leading the charts with her amazing performance as a lead in the political drama series opposite Soham Shah. Fans are hailing her work as Rani Bharti and the life she has given to the character. After completing two successful seasons of the Sony Liv show Maharani, Huma Qureshi has revealed that she was scared to play Rani Bharti. 

The Gangs Of Wasseypur actor has completed a decade in the industry. She disclosed how and when she was offered the show and also mentioned her first thoughts about it. This show was her first opportunity during the pandemic time and she was petrified. 

In a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama, Huma Qureshi spoke on her popular web series Maharani. She said, said, “I was scared because this was the first script I heard when the pandemic just started. It was my first zoom narration and I remember the Sony Live team and Subhash (Kapoor) sir were in a zoom call and I was hearing it and I was like sounds interesting.”

She further added, “but then you know of course all these conventional things that as women we are told – but this is not glam enough and this is not cool enough.” Qureshi also mentioned how she remembered someone asking her ‘why would you want to play mother to three kids?’”

Huma went on to say, “I could go back and that could be my creative suggestion but is that genuinely a good creative suggestion or I’m just making that because I’m scared. Hence, I did not make that suggestion and I was like no they’ve actually written something very beautiful, and I don’t want to spoil it by bringing my personal insecurity to the table. I didn’t want it to be like oh this is a filmy version of it (Rani Bharti) and I think that’s what really connected with people.” 

On the professional front, Huma Qureshi has an exciting slate of projects ahead including Double XL, and Monica O, My Darling.
