CarryMinati and Harsh Beniwal are some of the biggest names in YouTube Creator community in India. Ajey Nagar, known by his channel name CarryMinati is known for his roasting videos, reactions to trending topics and comic skits. He has over 37 million subscribers on YouTube, leaving behind Bhuvan Bam and Ashish Chanchlani. Harsh Beniwal is also known for posting comedy videos on his widely popular channel. After ruling YouTube for years, these popular creators are now planning to switch their focus towards OTT.
YouTubers like Prajakta Koli and Bhuvan Bam have begun signing OTT deals for whopping amounts. Bhuvan, who now barely posts any videos on his channel BB Ki Vines, made a series called Dhindora and released on his YouTube channel. And most recently, he created and featured in series Taaza Khabar which marked his OTT debut. Taaza Khabar is streaming on Disney+Hotstar. Taking inspiration from Bhuvan Bam and others, CarryMinati and Harsh Beniwal are also planning to move in similar direction.
During a media interaction, Harsh Beniwal said, “My first priority is to keep making original content. But I am planning to make a change. I am trying to move towards OTT. My plans are to make content and release it on OTT. YouTube channel will also be functional. It’s not like I will quit YouTube. But currently, most of the content creators are now focusing towards OTT. Bhuvan Bam also created Taaza Khabar recently for an OTT platform. So, everyone’s next focus is OTT, and so is mine.”
CarryMinati added, “There’s a lot of scope in OTT and you get a new perspective via OTT. People also see you in a new manner. We also don’t want that people keep seeing us doing same thing over and over again. We also want to deliver something fresh. So, OTT is a good opportunity for all of us. We can either work in a web series or make one ourselves. Since we are creators, our primary focus will be to make our own series. So, that people see us in a new format.”
Well, it would be interesting to see what these two bring to the audience this year.
