After the huge criticism and controversial remarks, Netflix serie IC814 has finally made the much needed ammendments in it. The makers have put in the names of the real culprits of the IC814 flight’s hijack that took place back in 1999. While there were constant demands to take the series down, ban netflix and boycott the entire series, makers have come to bring some peace by accepting and adding up the real and code names in the series.
Recently, a lot of controversies sparked up right after the release of much anticipated Netflix seroes IC814: The Kandahar Hijack. While the movie did show serious side of the real incidents that took place in the 1999 flight hijack, what the makers missed out on was an important aspect of naming the key 5 culprits of the incident. The makers named two of the five culprits as ‘SHANKAR’ and ‘BHOLA’ which infuriated the viewers. The audience not only accused the makers for choosing Hindu religion names to show the culprits, but also criticized them online for ‘intentionally protecting’ the terrorists’ identity and religion.

Netflix Adds Real and Codes Names In IC814 Disclaimer
To rectify the mistake, makers including the platform Netflix have come out with a solution. The real names and codes of the the Pakistan based terrorists are now updated in the beginning of the series. Streaming platform Netflix released a statement of making the required changes in the series. This change occured after Information & Broadcasting Ministry held a meeting with senior Netflix India executives to discuss the ongoing rage among netizens online.
A statement by the VP – Content @Netflix, Monika Shergill, said, “For the benefit of audiences unfamiliar with the 1999 hijacking of Indian Airlines Flight 814, the opening disclaimer has been updated to include the real and code names of the hijackers. The code names in the series reflect those used during the actual event.”

Followed by a lot of hashtags to ban the series on every social media platform, the series went from a big thumbs up to a quick thumbs down and the series did lose out excitement to some extent. Ultimately, with this addition – the series is expected to get back on the track once again by the maker Anubhav Sinha and team.
