Former actress Mamta Kulkarni is one of the most cherished Bollywood actress from the 90s. The glamorous woman and her exemplary acting skills made her stand out as one of the most popular actresses of that era. Kulkarni who gave multiple hits like Ram Lakhan, Karan Arjun, Kranti Veer has returned to India after 25 long-years. Fans were shocked after she shared the news of her comeback to India via an instagram video. Mamta Kulkarni who faced a massive legal battle over the past two decades, was finally set free from the judicial judgements after SC declared her non-guilty due to ‘lack of evidence’. Now as she has stepped into the country – several fans quipped if she will give her career a restart. Many also thought that Kulkarni has come to India for the occasion of her film ‘Karan-Arjun’s re-release at the box office. To clear the air on her own, the 90s actress has come forward to share the REAL reason behind her return to India.

REAL Reason Behind Mamta Kulkarni’s Come back
While talking to CNN News network, Mamta Kulkarni disclosed that she is back to her country, her mother land – Mumbai, after more than two decades. Unfortunately, this comeback has nothing to do with the film industry. Mamta highlighted that there is no relation between her comeback and the re-release of her iconic film – ‘Karan-Arjun’. Further, Mamta added, “I was outside India for 25 years, I was searching for myself. Now, Kumbh Mela is about to happen, so I have come here but I am not going to go back to the film industry. I am happy with my life. Nor have I come to India for Bigg Boss. When I left India in 2000, I was a top actor in the film industry, I had 43 film offers. I left all this and now I don’t want to come back to films“.
Kulkarni’s response finally cuts off the speculations of her return to the Bollywood industry. Stressing on to the reason of visiting India for Kumbh Mela, Mamta Kulkarni has hinted that her film career finally holds a full stop.
Why Did Mamta Kulkarni Leave India?
For the unversed, the glamorous actress Mamta Kulkarni left India in 2000. Despite having a wonderful career growth in the film industry, the actress chose to leave the nation and quit films. Mamta Kulkarni’s decision was linked to a major controversy in 2015 when she was named in a drug trafficking case. The ‘karan-arjun’ actress was alleged responsible for supplying ephedrine for illicit manufacture of methamphetamine to a Rs 2000 crore international drug dealer. While the case did not take a pause for more than two decade, recently in 2024, the Bombay High Court dismissed the accusations against her, claiming lack of evidence.
