The long-awaited film adaptation of Erik Larson’s bestselling book, The Devil in the White City, has received a new boost of energy. Sources report that 20th Century Studios is in discussions with Leonardo DiCaprio to star in the movie, with Martin Scorsese potentially directing a movie adaptation on it. Together, the two would also produce along with Stacey Sher, Rick Yorn and DiCaprio’s Appian Way partner Jennifer Davisson.

Sources add that there is currently no script for the movie, but it is currently in the development stage. As revealed by Hollywood Reporter, bith Leonardo DiCaprio and Scorsese have been developing the project for quite some time now, considering that this was a story that has resonated throughout the years and still does. DiCaprio first acquired the rights to the book in 2010, and although the project has gone through various stages of development over the years, recent meetings with 20th Century executives have garnered enthusiasm from all parties to bring this story on the bigger platform.
DiCaprio and Scorsese have previously collaborated on several acclaimed films, including Gangs of New York, The Aviator, The Departed, Shutter Island and many more. The Devil in the White City tells the true story of two men—one an architect and the other a serial killer—whose destinies became intertwined during the Chicago World’s Fair of 1893.
