When Kim Kardashian West headed to Cody, Wyoming, to see her husband Kanye West on Monday, this was not exactly a happy reunion.
West, who has bipolar disorder, has displayed highly erratic behavior over the last few weeks, including sharing intensely intimate information about his family and marriage. The couple share four kids: North, 7, Saint, 4, Chicago, 2 and Psalm, 1. He’s also launched a surprising bid for US president.
“Kim feels trapped,” says the source.“She loves Kanye and she thinks of him as the love of her life. But she doesn’t know what to do.”
Evidently, multiple sources claim that even before the recent incidents the six-year union between West, 43, and Kardashian, 39, was under strain. Things have hit a breakpoint since.
“Kim was thinking that they need to be apart,” says Kardashian’s source, who returned home alone on Tuesday to Los Angeles. “She knows that it’s not healthy for her to be around him now, and it’s honestly not healthy for the kids. He needs to get his stuff together before he can be any sort of partner or father.”
However, no matter what, “Kim wants the best for Kanye,” says an insider.“And she will always want what’s best for him.”
Kim even asked the public and media to offer “compassion and empathy” to her family, and thanked those who “expressed concern for Kanye’s well being.”
