The dynamics of the Bollywood industry have been changed amid the coronavirus pandemic. Many filmmakers are taking the OTT route as the theatres across the country remain shut to combat the spread of the COVID-19 infection.
The recent reports suggest that Ali Abbas Zaffar’s maiden production titled Khaali Peeli starring Ishaan Khatter alongside Ananya Panday will be releasing digitally. Earlier there were speculations that the film will be premiering on streaming-giant Netflix but the sources suggest that it will instead be released on Zee5. Reportedly, the digital right of the movie has been sold to Zee5 already.
In an interaction with Bollywood Hungama, an insider revealed that the makers were in talks with Netflix and Zee5. But Zee5 bagged the rights and added it to their library. The insider also added that Ali Abbas Zafar and his studio partners, Zee Studio, were keen on holding back the movie for theatrical release. However, amid the current scenario on the ground and the nepotism debate on full rage, it made them rethink their decision. Hence, they have finally decided to release the movie on a digital medium.
The film is believed to be a commercial entertainer with dance, songs, and action to keep the audiences hooked. Currently, the work on the final edit of the film is underway and an official announcement about the OTT release will be out soon.
On the work front, Ishaan Khatter has two more films in his kitty post Khaali Peeli, he will be starring Phone Bhoot and Pippa. On the other hand, Ananya Panday will be sharing the screen space with Deepika Padukone and Siddhant Chaturvedi in a yet-to-be-titled film.
