Jigra Box Office Collection DAY 1: Alia Bhatt-Vedang Raina Film Opens With Decent Numbers

The collection is inclusive of the 5 lakhs earned from the Telugu-dubbed version of this movie.

Alia Bhatt and Vedang Raina film Jigra released yesterday and the first day opening report is out now. The Vasan Bala directorial did not turned out to be a massive success on the screens and saw a lower occupancy in the theatres than expected. The film clashed with Triptii Dimri and Rajkumar Rao starrer Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video which was a fun-entertainment comedy surrounding a romantic couple’s tragedies. Though both the genres were poles apart, and Jigra managed to surpass the pre-sale collection records of VVKWVV, it’s box office office collection for the first day was just average.

Jigra Box Office Collection DAY 1

The Alia Bhatt starrer opened with a 4.25 crores INR india net, at the box office on its first day. The collection is inclusive of the 5 lakhs earned from the Telugu-dubbed version of this movie. As the theatres went empty on the first day and initial twitter reviews from fans and movie critics seemed disappointing, Jigra failed to touch the 5 crore mark for its film. This average opening is expected to see a surge over the Dussehra weekend.

The highest occupancy for Jigra went 32.19 % at night while the morning shows were below average giving a total of 10.48% of occupancy. Many theatres in other states and regions cancelled several shows of Jigra due to almost nil occupancy. This has been one of the worst start for Alia Bhatt’s movie. Earlier, Alia was seen in Brahmastra: part I which was a blockbuster superhit film breaking all records in the industry.

Jigra is directed by Vasan Bala, under the production banners of Dharma Productions. Alia Bhatt has also co- produced this film alongside Karan Johar and Apoorva Mehta. According to the critics, Jigra is an interesting twist to have the sis wear the rakhi at least metaphorically. But the overlong sequences and the general screen chaos make it a tiresome watch.
