Wilson Joins Disney’s Haunted Mansion Remake – Things Fans Should Know About

Loki fame Owen Wilson has joined the cast of Disney's new movie 'Haunted Mansion'. The movie is based on a Disneyland ride.

No Escape fame actor Owen Wilson has joined the cast of Disney’s new movie Haunted Mansion. The 52-year-old actor has given the voice to Lightning McQueen in Disney Pixar’s animated movie Cars. He is popularly known for his role Mobius played in the Loki series on Disney Plus. Currently, his role is unknown in the upcoming flick. Wilson joins the splendid cast of the movie that already includes – LaKeith Stanfield and Tiffany Haddish. According to the sources, Oscar-nominated and The Girls Trip star Judas and the Black Messiah actor are in negotiations to play a psychic and widower in the Disney live-action film. 

Dear White People fame filmmaker, Justin Simien will direct this movie. He has also directed Bad Hair. The screenplay of Haunted Mansion is written by Katie Dippold. She is known for Ghostbusters and The Heat screenplay that described as a family adventure filled with happy haunts. According to the reports, story detail is kept in dark till now. But it is known that the film will revolve around a family that moves into the titular mansion. The film will be produced under the Rideback banner. Nick Reynolds of Rideback will be the executive producer. The shooting of Haunted Mansion is expected to begin next month in Atlanta.

The Haunted Mansion depicted the storyline on the spooky theme park ride that was first opened at Disneyland in 1969. It took guests through a terrifying mansion packed with ghosts, demons, and various other undead inhabitants. It was also one of the only movies in which Disney employees were encouraged not to smile.

Tiffany earlier hinted that her upcoming movie will be a Disney project. At the ‘Jungle Cruise’ premiere at Disneyland, she stated, “I am a huge Disney fan. I watched all Disney movies coming up… I love me some Disney.” On asking about her next move, she replied, “Well, it is. I’m not here for nothing… Tiffany shows up everywhere she needs to be for a reason — I am not a roach, I don’t just pop up out of nowhere. “When I show up, something’s about to happen… I’m not spilling no tea, but it might be slowly dripping off the edges of the cup!”

2003 family-friendly horror-comedy film The Haunted Mansion, starring Eddie Murphy, was also based on the amusement park attraction. Disney’s recent hit Jungle Cruise is another film-themed on an amusement ride. According to the sources, Disney is also planning to develop films on other popular rides like Space Mountain and Town of Terror.

Owen Wilson will be seen in the upcoming movie The French Dispatch, directed by his frequent collaborator Wes Anderson. He has also finished shooting the romantic comedy starring Jennifer Lopez Marry Me.
