Will Smith slapped Chris Rock on air when the latter made a joke about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, shaved head. Aftermath, Smith has been banned from the Academy for 10 years following the incident and recently made a trip to India, reportedly to visit spiritual leader Sadhguru. His actions have affected his professional as well as his personal life. The projects that he was a part of, have either been postponed or cancelled. There has been a lot of talk about Will Smith on the internet this year since the Oscar 2022 incident.
There are also reports that things are not as smooth between him and his wife. According to ET Online, the actor is seeking therapy post the incident. A source told the news outlet that Smith ‘has been going to therapy after the Oscars incident.’ However, Smith is aware of his behaviour and shared a post on Instagram, publicly apologizing to Chris. Taking to Instagram, the actor issued a lengthy apology note. The actor started his post while noting that ‘violence in all of its forms is poisonous and destructive.’
The Men In Black actor continues, “My behaviour at last night’s Academy Awards was unacceptable and inexcusable. Jokes at my expense are a part of the job, but a joke about Jada’s medical condition was too much for me to bear and I reacted emotionally.” King Richards actor added, “I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness.”
The Oscar-winner actor went on to say, “I would also like to apologize to the Academy, the producers of the show, all the attendees and everyone watching around the world.” “I would like to apologize to the Williams Family and my King Richard Family,” he added. He concluded by writing, “I deeply regret that my behaviour has stained what has been an otherwise gorgeous journey for all of us. I am a work in progress. Sincerely, Will.” Chris Rock, on the other hand, has not yet officially addressed the slap.
