WHY Kirk Douglas gave all his $61 million to charity & nothing to son Michael Douglas

Here’s why Hollywood legend Kirk Douglas gave most of his money to charity.

Hollywood legend Kirk Douglas, who passed away at 103 earlier this month gave up most of his money to charity and not much to son Michael Douglas.

According to a news portal, Douglas wanted $50 million to be given away to various charities through the Douglas Foundation, including a scholarship program at his alma mater St. Lawrence University, Sinai Temple in Los Angeles, Culver City’s Kirk Douglas Theatre and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.

Michael Douglas, did not happen to be one of the beneficiaries. Reports say Michael’s net worth is $300 million and maybe that’s the reason Kirk didn’t make him one of the beneficiaries.

“To the world he was a legend, an actor from the golden age of movies who lived well into his golden years, a humanitarian whose commitment to justice and the causes he believed in set a standard for all of us to aspire to,” Michael paid a heartfelt tribute to his father on Feb.5 in a lengthy Instagram post.

Kirk is survived by his wife Anne Buydens, their son Peter Douglas, two sons from his first marriage — Michael and Joel Douglas — and seven grandchildren.

Anne and Kirk founded the Douglas Foundation in 1964.

“One of the entertainment industry’s largest and oldest private philanthropic institutions, the Foundation is committed to helping those who might not otherwise be able to help themselves,” the Douglas foundation website states.
