Vin Diesel made a plea for Dwayne Johnson to return to the Fast & Furious franchise. The 54-year-old performer shared a post to his Instagram account on Sunday. The post included a photo of the two acting in one of the series’ films. The actor also wrote a lengthy message where he expressed his desires for Dwayne johnson to return to the franchise.
Diesel began the caption by referring to Johnson as a family member and mentioning how the Fast & Furious series was coming to an end. He wrote, “My little brother Dwayne… the time has come. The world awaits the finale of Fast 10.” The Chronicles of Riddick star then expressed that his kids had grown close to the Skyscraper star and that he missed his old castmate.
Diesel then went on saying, “As you know, my children refer to you as Uncle Dwayne in my house. There is not a holiday that goes by that they and you don’t send well wishes… but the time has come. Legacy awaits.” Diesel also noted that he had previously spoken with his late costar, Paul Walker, regarding the end of the franchise and that he intended to make good on his statement. He wrote, “I told you years ago that I was going to fulfill my promise to Pablo. I swore that we would reach and manifest the best Fast in the finale that is 10!”
The Pacifier star concluded the note by urging Johnson to reprise his role as Luke Hobbs in the forthcoming final entries in the film series. He remarked, “I say this out of love… but you must show up, do not leave the franchise idle you have a very important role to play. Hobbs can’t be played by no other. I hope that you rise to the occasion and fulfill your destiny.”
The performers have notably been involved in a dispute that dates back to the production of 2016’s The Fate of the Furious. Diesel then noted that he and the actor had reached an understanding regarding their working relationship, although he remained unsure of their future. Diesel spoke to Men’s Health earlier this year and told the publication that his dispute with Johnson was partially due to his way of dealing with coworkers. However, the upcoming tenth and eleventh entries in the Fast & Furious franchise, which will be released as two parts of the same feature, do not have set debut dates as of yet.
