Vanessa Hudgens Visits The Iconic ‘High School Musical’ East High

Vanessa Hudgens starred as Gabriella in three High School Musical films from 2006 to 2008.

Vanessa Hudgens has recently taken a trip down memory lane! The actress visited the real-life East High School where the beloved High School Musical series was filmed. Hudgens shared a glimpse of her return on Instagram with a video featuring “Breaking Free,” a song featured in the 2006 musical movie.

Hudgens captioned the post while quoting a line her character Gabriella Montez said in the first film, “Do you remember in kindergarten how you’d meet a kid and know nothing about them, then 10 seconds later you’re playing like you’re best friends because you didn’t have to be anything but yourself?” Hudgens starred as Gabriella in three High School Musical films from 2006 to 2008. The first two movies premiered on the Disney Channel while the third had a larger, theatrical release.

The musical series cast also includes Zac Efron, Ashley Tisdale, Lucas Grabeel, Corbin Bleu and Monique Coleman. The High School Tv movie follows a popular high-school athlete and an academically-gifted girl who get roles in the school musical and develop a friendship that threatens East High’s social order. However, before the High School Musical movie celebrated its milestone 15th anniversary, last year, Hudgens shared that she can still “find joy” in hearing frequent references to the movie.

Vanessa Hudgens’ career kicked off with The High School tv movie and since then she has starred in tons of movies and tv series. Her recent credits include the Netflix movie tick, tick…BOOM! in which she starred alongside Spider-Man actor Andrew Garfield. Another new movie, The Princess Switch 3: Romancing the Star, was also released in 2021 on Netflix.

In a 2020 interview, the actress shared, “It allows me to reminisce a bit and connect to my younger self. That project opened up so many doors for me and I’ll always be grateful for that.” Meanwhile, Hudgens recently spoke about the Disney Channel original movie’s lasting legacy. The Princess Switch franchise actress shared, “The fact is kids are still watching it. Kids are still being introduced to it. I just saw that ‘Gotta Go My Own Way’ is trending on TikTok.” Hudgens added, “It never dies, thanks to you guys!”
