Vanessa Bryant Files A Wrongful Death Lawsuit Seeking For Damages

Basketball legend Kobe Bryant and his 13-year old daughter Gianna Bryant were among the nine people killed in the helicopter crash in California on January 26, 2020. The whole of the sports world was doomed after hearing the sudden demise of Kobe and his wife Vanessa was the most devastated.

The basketball legend’s wife Vanessa Bryant has now filed a wrongful death lawsuit and is seeking for damages which almost cost ‘hundreds of millions of dollars’. The lawsuit has been filed against the Island Express Helicopters and the pilot that was in control of the helicopter.

When the lawsuit was submitted back in February, news daily had revealed that Vanessa’s attorney has now filled 72-page wrongful death lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court. In the lawsuit, her attorney had stated that Island Express Helicopters, its agents and employees including the deceased pilot had a ‘duty to use that degree of care that an ordinarily careful and prudent pilot would use under the same or similar circumstances.’ 

The reports say that the exact amount of damages is not being revealed. However, the lawsuit reads, “Although the total specific amount of personal injury damages that Plaintiff seeks is TBD, Kobe Bryant’s future lost earnings equals hundreds of millions of dollars.”

Vanessa is also seeking economic damages, non-economic damages, prejudgement interest, punitive damages, and other relief as the court deems and proper.

The lawsuit also charges the pilot of not taking enough precautions while he was flying, despite knowing about the cloudy conditions. Island Express has not yet responded to the lawsuit.
