Tom Cruise Celebrates ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ Success, Teases New Film

Top Gun: Maverick became the biggest hit film of 2022 having grossed a worldwide total of $1.488 billion.

Tom Cruise recently celebrated the massive success of his latest movie Top Gun: Maverick. Taking to his social media, the actor shared a video showing his daredevil side. Cruise also thanked fans for their support for Top Gun: Maverick while filming a skydiving sequence for the upcoming Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning.

In the clip, Cruise was in an aircraft over South Africa alongside collaborator Christopher McQuarrie who penned the script for Top Gun: Maverick and is directing upcoming part one and two of the Mission: Impossible movie. The A-list actor told his fans he wanted to show his gratitude as the holidays approach.

Cruise shared, “Hey everyone, here we are over stunning South Africa, where we’re filming Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning parts one and two.” Top Gun star added, “And I didn’t want the year to end without thanking you all for coming out to the theatres and thank you for supporting Top Gun: Maverick.”

The video ended with Cruise jumping off the plane and was later seen in a descent toward the ocean. It was also revealed in the clip that Top Gun: Maverick is heading to Paramount+ on December 22. He also shared in the video, “We’re making this film for the big screen for audiences to see in your wonderful theatres,’ at which point McQuarrie was seen arriving into the frame in his own biplane.

McQuarrie told Cruise that they had to get back to production amid low fuel levels, to which he said, ‘Oh yeah, we gotta roll, huh? Low on fuel, that’s not good. I’m sorry, we’ve got to go.’ Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 1 is slated to hit theatres next July. Top Gun: Maverick is the latest instalment in the Top Gun franchise. The film has been widely praised by critics and fans.
